Paper Topic #6:
In lecture we discussed the different ways we learn from our experiences. The behavior perspective provided us with examples of both classical and operant conditioning. The cognitive perspective showed us examples of how we learn through observations and vicarious conditioning. Identify an experience(s) in your life in which you learned something through:
- Classical conditioning: Be sure and correctly identify the US,UR, NS,CS,CR. Do not use the movie music example already covered in class. A successful example will also address extinction and spontaneous recovery as well.
- Operant Condition: Be sure and identify if the leaning involved reinforcement and or punishment and whether or not it was positive or negative. What type of reinforcement schedule was used? A good example(s) will identity reinforcement AND punishment.
- Observational learning: Be sure and point out how what you learned was NOT directly conditioned, reinforced or punished.
Finally, what would Skinner say about the nature of free will? Would Bandura agree or disagree with Skinner? What is your opinion on this issue?
